Founded in 1923 the University of Milan is a public university that is highly committed to scientific research. It is ranked among the top universities in Italy for its level of research excellence, which is recognized by leading international rankings.
The project involves the participation of three different research groups. The first group, led by Paolo Pesaresi, specializes in barley functional genomics of photosynthesis. The second group, led by Laura Rossini, specializes in barley developmental genetics and genomics approaches. Lastly, the third group, led by David S. Horner, provides bioinformatics expertise and resources to the activities. 

Lunds Universitet

ULUND - Lunds Universitet
Lund University was founded in 1666 and is one of the world's top universities.
The project involves the participation of a research group led by Mats Hansson, which has studied barley mutants since 1997 and conducted functional genomics studies on barley genes related to plant architecture and chlorophyll biosynthesis.

UDUS – Heinrich Heine Universitaet Duesseldorf
Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is one of the younger higher education institutions in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia – founded in 1965.
The project involves the participation of two different research groups. The first group, led by Andreas P.M. Weber specialised in the evolution of C3-C4 intermediate and C4 plant species from C3 ancestors and the role of photorespiration in photosynthetic efficiency. The second group, led by Goetz Hensel will provide expertise on barley transformation and gene editing.

UP - Univerzita Palackeho V Olomouci
Palacký University Olomouc (UP) is an internationally respected and scientifically and academically highly productive university in Central Europe. Founded on 22 December 1573, it is the second-oldest university in the Czech Republic.
The project involves the participation of a research group led by Ivo Frébort that will make available laboratories that are fully equipped for routine barley transformation and high-throughput sequencing facility.

CREA - Consiglio per la ricerca in agricoltura e l'analisi dell'economia agraria
CREA is the leading Italian research organization dedicated to the agri-food supply chains. it operates as a legal entity under public law, and is supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests (Masaf).
The Research Centre for Genomics and Bioinformatics of Fiorenzuola d’Arda has long-standing expertise in genetic, genomics and molecular biology of crop plants, mainly barley and durum wheat.  

UNIPD - Università degli Studi di Padova

UNIPD - Università degli Studi di Padova 
The University of Padua is one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious seats of learning.
The project involves the participation of a research group led by Tomas Morosinotto experienced with FLV, VDE, ZE and PSBS proteins' role in the regulation of photosynthesis in different organisms using different physiological and spectroscopic approaches. 

University of Dundee

UNIVDUN - University of Dundee
The University of Dundee, founded in 1881, has been named the UK’s best for supporting spinout businesses, according to industry-leading analysis.
The project involves the participation of a research group led by Claire Halpin specialised in lignin biosynthesis and associated cell wall biology, particularly in the manipulation of lignin content/composition through transgenic RNAi, heterologous expression, and CRISPR-Cas9 approaches. 

JHI - The James Hutton Institute

JHI - The James Hutton Institute
The James Hutton Institute, created on 1 April 2011, brings together the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute (MLURI) and SCRI (Scottish Crop Research Institute), both of which have illustrious histories.
The project involves the participation of two different research groups. The first group, led by Paul Shaw internationally recognized in the development of information systems and biological visualization tools. They will make data available through their Germinate platform, which is recognized and supported by DivSeek International as a ‘thematic hub’ promoting good data handling practices for plant genetic resources collections. JHI also develops commonly used visualization, data collection and analysis tools including Helium, Flapjack and GridScore. The second group, led by Kelly Houston and Robbie Waugh has an internationally recognized reputation in barley research and is leading The International Barley Hub. 

IMT - Institut Mines-Telecom

IMT has over twenty years of expertise in the development of innovative bio-based materials from sustainable biomass production systems. It has specific laboratory and pilot scale equipment for the development of biopolymer blends and (nano)biocomposite materials.
The Polymers, Composites & Hybrids (PCH) team (Nicolas Le Moigne, Rodolphe Sonnier, Clément Lacoste) and Durability, eco-Materials & structures (DMS) team (Stéphane Corn) will provide their expertise in the processing, microstructural, thermal and mechanical characterization of composites.

The project involves the participation of a research group led by Hannes Kollist and Dmitry Yarmolinsky experienced in stomatal regulation in response to abiotic stimuli, such as drought, elevated CO2, O3, and illumination conditions.
